Dr Jay Thakkar (MBBS, MD, PhD, FRACP, FCSANZ)

 

Dr Jay Thakkar is a general and interventional cardiologist. He is a Staff Specialist at Westmead Public Hospital and a Visiting Cardiologist at Norwest Private and Westmead Private Hospitals.


Dr Thakkar graduated from Baroda Medical College (The Maharaja Sayajirao University, Baroda, India) and completed his medical training across university-affiliated hospitals in India, Australia, and Canada. He undertook cardiology training through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians at Royal Darwin and Westmead Public Hospitals, followed by a fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at the University of British Columbia and Vancouver General Hospital, Canada.


He has a special interest in the management of coronary artery disease and cardiovascular diseases.   He has expertise in coronary angiography, balloon angioplasty, and coronary stenting.


He provides in-clinic consultations and diagnostic services including exercise stress testing, stress echocardiography, echocardiography, and Holter monitoring. Coronary angiography and interventional cardiac procedures are available in both public and private hospital settings under his care.
